Treasure Island was built by MGM Grand Inc., one of the largest casino operators in the world, which merged with Miriam Holdings to form MGM Resorts International. The hotel opened on October 2, 1993, under its original name “T.I.”, later changing it to Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in 2009.

Resorts World & Future Developments
On January 11, 2017, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Treasure Island Hotel was sold by MGM Resorts International for approximately $600 million to Red Rock Resorts, Inc., a subsidiary of Station Casinos. This marked the second major sale in recent years following previous owner Bob Stupak’s decision to sell it for an estimated $300-400 Million back in 1999.
On January 4th, 2023 news broke out that Treasure Island would soon change its name to ‘Resorts World Las Vegas’, however currently no confirmed date as of writing.
